Godly Hacks: Doing Business

Hi guys! Good Morning. I hope your day is off to a great start! This week on Godly Hacks we’re going to be looking at what the bible says about us doing business. I think this is super important and I know particularly for me in this season of my life, I’ve been clinging to every scripture I come across on business. Like I’ve said a few times, my favourite thing about the word of God is that it is dynamic and valid for all circumstances. God always has a word and opinion on every area of our life, the difference is often times we don’t know it just because it’s not spelt out in black and white. So today we’re going to dive into God’s expectations and will for His children when it comes to business.

GOD IS NOT ABOUT THAT LAZY LIFE

“The Lord God took the man and put Him in the Garden of Eden to work and take care of it.” – Genesis 2:15

“…If anyone who is unwilling to work should not eat.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:10

DILIGENCE IS WHAT GETS YOU TO THE HIGH PLACES OF LIFE

“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” – Proverbs 22:29

OUR ABILITY TO CREATE WEALTH DOESN’T REST IN OUR EFFORTS ALONE, GOD EMPOWERS US TO MAKE WEALTH

“And you shall remember the Lord your God for it is He who gives you the power to get wealth that He may establish His covenant which He swore to you.” – Deuteronomy 8:18

GOD HONOURS SMALL STARTS BUT HE ALWAYS GIVES INCREASE

“Do not despise these small beginnings for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hands.” – Zechariah 4:10

“And though you started with little, you will end with much.” – Job 8:7 (NLT)

“So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning…” – Job 42:12

GOD DOESN’T JUST WANT TO GIVE US A FANCY MID-LEVE ROLE, HE WANTS TO HAND INDUSTRIES AND BUSINESS TERRITORIES OVER TO US

“Every place on which the sole of your feet treads shall be yours.” – Deuteronomy 11:24

“Every place on which the sole of your feet tread, I have given to you just as I promised Moses.” – Joshua 1:3

HE DESIRES TO MAKE US PROSPEROUS

“For I know the Plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29: 11-13

“I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places that you may know that I the Lord who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel.”

GODLY COUNSEL IS HOW HE PROSPERS US

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful, but his delight is in the law of the Lord and in His law, he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”- Psalm 1: 1-3

“The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom and their tongues speak what is just.” – Psalm 37:30

GOD DOESN’T EXPECT US TO BE JEALOUS OF UNGODLY PEOPLE’S SUCCESS

“Don’t worry about evil people who prosper, or fret about their wicked scheme… for the wicked will be destroyed but those who trust in the Lord will possess the land.” – Psalm 37:7, 9

“Soon the wicked will disappear, though you look for them, they will be gone. The lowly will possess the land and will live in peace and prosperity.” – Psalm 37:10-11

FINALLY, BEING DILIGENT WITH OTHER PEOPLE’S WORK IS WHAT QUALIFIES YOU FOR YOUR OWN.

“And if you have not been faithful with the belongings if another, who will give you belongings of your own?” – Luke 16:12
