Godly Hacks: Finishing

Hi guys, Happy New Month and Welcome to the Month of October. The month of October for me being the first month in the last quarter of the year is a major reality check month for me. I look back at all my goals, visions and aspirations for the year and try to balance my sheets (for lack of a better word). When I find that I’m nowhere near where I’d like to be, the tendency is to fall into panicking but this October, the Holy Spirit is letting me know it’s not necessary. When you’re faced with a challenge all you need to do is go and find out what the word of God says about what you should do. In light of this, like the good “Sister-in-the-LORD” I am, I am sharing a few hacks on FINISHING for all of my fellow Jesus-Loving-Neurotics. Cheers!

HACK 1: FINISHING IS GODLY SO YOU SHOULD FINISH

God never starts anything without finishing it and seeing as we have His very Spirit resting on our inside, and we’re made in His image and likeness that same grace for finishing rests on us to.

Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.” – Genesis 2:1-2

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” – Philippians 1:6
“The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of the temple and he will finish it.” – Zechariah 4:9

HACK 2: DON’T GET WEARY OR GIVE IN MID-WAY, THERE IS A REWARD IN THE END

When we’ve been at projects or a vision for a while, the tendency is to want to give in and just quit but that’s not the way to go. Perseverance is a fruit of the Spirit and when our flesh gives in, we can rely on the Holy Spirit for assistance. There is grace to see things through to the end and there is a reward at the end of that road.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:3

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.” – Galatians 6:9

HACK 3: TRUST GOD FOR SPEED TO FINISH

One of the reasons we struggle and get tired at the thought of completing things we started is that we’re worried about how long it will take to complete those things. When we do that, we forget that God is able to collapse time and give us tremendous speed. Trust Him for speed. Whether he does it by sending help or finances or hacks (yes God gives hacks on smarter ways to get things done) He will come through.

“GOD the Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like those of a deer; He makes me walk upon the heights!” – Habakkuk 3:19

He makes my feet like the feet of a deer and stations me upon the heights.” – 2 Samuel 22: 34

Ps: Deers are known for their speed. 8th Fastest Animal on Land.

HACK 4: BUT DON’T CUT CORNERS TO FINISH

As important and great as speed is, doing the right thing is even more important. As Christians, we don’t have the luxury of using dodgy means to get to the top. More importantly, we don’t need to. The blessings of God for the believer include success and prosperity. All the answers and victory you need are in God. Besides, it doesn’t end well for the wicked and their legacy.

“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,  but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.” – Psalm 1: 1-3

Read verses 4-6 to see the lot of the wicked.

“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.” – Psalm 92:12

HACK 5 and FINAL: WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE, REST

We forget that it is biblical to rest. We have a whole day of obligation (Sabbath Day) dedicated to resting because even God Almighty rested when He was done. We, on the other hand, don’t even stop to see that the work we’ve done is good and appreciate it much less rest. Take time at the end of each major project or achievement and rest before you re-launch.

Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God.” - Exodus 20:9

For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” – Exodus 20:11

Enjoy the rest of your week guys!
