Our Spoken Word ( Part 2)
Hi Guys, so picking up where we left off last week Wednesday, we talked a lot about understanding the power of our spoken word and exercising that power. This week, I’d like to talk about how to act, after you speak in faith. I believe understanding this is super important because many times, even when we have an understanding of the importance of speaking words, we either don’t know how to act or haven’t cultivated the right attitude to go the distance.
When I felt led to share on ‘Our Spoken Word’, the Holy Spirit explained something important to me. He told me that the same way in which God spoke and did not chase after His word but sent it forth and it accomplished all that He sent it forth to do; this is exactly what our words will do as well. When we speak words concerning any situation, we ought to cease worrying about that situation. I know it’s easier said than done but the truth is, more than just believing, we need to know that every word spoken in faith and in line with God's word shall surely come to pass.
Which leads me to the other things God is an expert at doing but is the undoing of many of us believers….waiting! More often than not perseverance is not our strong suit. We'd all like to believe that we wait on God but if we're being honest, we've also time-marked that wait.
I know in recent times, in particular, I've felt so exasperated with waiting for that next level/ season of my life that I’ve told God…“ Lord, I've been waiting!” One day while I was reflecting on how I had been waiting on God, my spirit man chuckled at the thought. It was a bit rude of her, so I stopped to think of how many years I had been waiting and it turns out it’d been all of 2years. I had to stop and laugh at myself for just a minute. I had only learnt to start declaring and standing in faith (aligned and all) about a year and a half into that time, and yet somehow, I felt I had waited on God for long enough.
When we think of the Fathers of faith and how long they waited on God or even when we hear the testimonies of other believers today and how long they waited; it really does put the W in waiting. It truly brings perspective to what it really means to wait on God. It's true that waiting isn't easy and it is especially difficult for us because we literally want to be doing anything but declaring the same scriptures over the same issue, over and over again. But as God will have it, this is precisely what we must do to obtain whatever it is we are believing God for.
Now let me clear something up, the first time we spoke a word in faith and we were aligned to the will of God is the first time God heard us. Continuously speaking words or scriptures is not intended to make God hear us. First off, He’s not deaf and secondly, He already said Yea and Amen over 2, 000 years ago on the cross to all our requests, aligned to His will. So why do we need to continue repeating prayer points, declarations, and scriptures? For alignment sake!
God knows that the only way to ensure that our desire is still intact, that we are still in faith, and that we are still trusting Him to deliver on His promises is for us to keep speaking the word. When we stop waiting by speaking words and taking steps of faith, as sure as 6am is morning, we will be unaligned with where God will have us be when our answers show up. If you understand that there is a disposition you must be in to receive, then it follows that there is a right disposition to wait on God.
God wants us to keep our eyes on the price and keep believing Him. He needs our hope intact because without it, He can do very little for us. Faith is the currency with which we receive in the Kingdom and faith has a voice and a disposition. So while you're believing, you had better keep speaking, thinking and acting like you know your answers are on their way, because they are. It is only a matter of time.
