DANCING THROUGH THE STORM

I was worshipping and listening to Heroes by Amanda Cook and my best bit of the song has always been the bit where she says "You taught my feet to dance upon disappointment." but today the Holy Spirit gave it new meaning.

God with every failure, heart ache and disappointment that comes our way, is constantly trying to teach us to dance. God is always trying to get us to rise above situations and all the crap life throws at us but we're constantly in Grease mood and we just won't dance.

I mean, it makes perfect sense when you think of it. We are human after all and it turns out it's not just guys who are visual creatures, apparently we all are.  We find it difficult to dance because of what we can see, feel, taste and touch but our God is soo much bigger than all of those things.

How do we limit a God that we cannot see to situations that we can see? It's the genius of our minds as human beings but it's also very much the weakness of the flesh. It is precisely the reason that strength to dance, laugh and rejoice in the face of adversity and disappointment doesn't derive from our bodies or our natural inclinations; it derives from our Spirit man.

God is always causing all things to work together for our good. He is a very intentional God. (Yes I just bit Travis Greene's lines but he bit St Paul's bars from Romans 8:28, so we're all good.) God allows situations get thrown at us to see if we can trust him through it all regardless of situations staring us in the face. (It’s funny how with God the Obvious isn’t necessarily the whole truth.)

And when you really think about it, why shouldn't we? We mustered enough faith to believe in God without seeing Him. We found a way to accept that Jesus died for us without watching it happen. Our physical senses as important as they are, are also a huge limitation to our trust in God and our spiritual growth. God on the other hand is very much about breaking barriers and limitations. He allows our eyes see things and let us feel things and hears things and waits to see if beyond all of those things, we would just trust Him. God watches to see if we would have faith enough to believe in His innumerable promises, His everlasting faithfulness and the trustworthiness of His word, which He exalts above every name we call him.

After our love, the other thing God is most jealous for is our trust.

So yeah, ‎ dancing won’t always be easy and no it's not a denial of situations on ground. Dancing in the face of adversity and disappointment is an acknowledgment that there is something more our God is up to than our physical senses can perceive.

Everytime you feel your flesh rebelling against rejoicing, just disregard. The Spirit you carry on your inside is always stronger and so is the word of God. Find a word for your season and situation (because there is always one) draw strength from the Spirit of the Living God in you, then take the lead and just dance.

Then wait and see if every situation doesn't bow to the unfailing word of God and his uncontested faithfulness.
